Our first formative travel experiences here at the Eight Roads Travel Co. were those of a cultural nature, way back when we explored the ancient sights of South-East Asia. There’s something very special and enlightening about a holiday that allows you to get under the skin of a place, and to really feel a sense of its history and culture. Often a cultural adventure teams perfectly with a modern city break, offering the best of both worlds. Many of these trips also work very well with a relaxing luxury beach stay at the end.
There are a wealth of incredible destinations around the world offering a real sense of cultural discovery, and we love sharing those with our clients and arranging these types of holidays. Many destinations are now open to responsible tourism in a way that they never were before, granting access to never before seen treasures. In many places, the indigenous religions and beliefs are integral to their identity, and a traveller here will find a sense of wonder and fascination awaits.
Why not explore the peaceful valleys and hushed mountain temples of Bhutan? Or learn about the fascinating Lanna cultures of Northern Thailand, at the crossroads of the Golden Triangle that is Myanmar, Laos and Thailand? Go back to the future and also the past in Japan. Be captivated by the ancient Mayan cultures of Mexico, or head deeper into Central America to really step back in time. One of our favourite trips is to Cambodia, where you can appreciate the awe-inspiring artisanship of the many monuments of the Angkor monuments.
